The solution to Lifestyle Design as someone in your 20s

To want better for yourself, to want to lead a better life, that’s a dangerous thing. Because in doing so, you admit that you aren’t all you could be and that you have the potential for more.

And if you have the potential for more, that means you can become better, more capable, and more able to make a change in the world.

We live in a more connected world than ever before, yet we are more lost than ever. Maybe you are in the stage of feeling lost, of not knowing what to do. Maybe you’re in the lonely chapter, building and growing, but misunderstood by the people around you.

Whatever your situation, it’s on you to make the most of it, to be grateful for where you are in the process. But it’s always important to note that the root cause is internal.

Chasing a better you is a worthy pursuit, but the WHY matters the most.

If your WHY is…

Proving someone wrong

Chasing happiness

Escaping from your problems

Wanting to be loved and accepted

AND you don’t have a deeper WHY…

Like your Ikigai, your purpose, you will not find what you are looking for.

You need something that makes you get out of bed in the morning, not because it always makes you happy, but because you have no greater meaning than your purpose.

I’ll be the first to admit. I’m not where I want to be, but I love my life, I love my problems and shortcomings, and I love my answers and strengths. I know, that no matter what, I won’t stop growing, changing, and evolving into who I can be every single day, and that is why I win because I choose to fail every day until something changes.

It’s the Rocky quote, “It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward, how much you can take, and keep moving forward.”

With that said, here are 4 actionable solutions to Lifestyle Design as someone in your 20s.

1 - Reverse Engineer Your Life from 80

Take a moment to sit with pen and paper, and write about your life at 80 years old, I want you to focus on these main 4 questions.

  1. Where am I now?

  2. What did I do to get here?

  3. What kind of relationships do I have?

  4. What impact did my life have on my family, my friends, and the world?

Take these questions, answer them, and map out what is that you have to start doing today to get there.

2 - Focus on changing all problems into opportunities

If every time something didn’t go your way, every time you encountered a problem, you got excited about the chance to encounter the problem rather than frustrated, you are playing a whole different game. To view problems as opportunities is changing the way you approach life, and I promise it’s a much better one.

3 - Take full responsibility for everything that happens

If you want to be a Life Designer, you cannot ever be a victim of your circumstances. You have to take ownership of your life and the things that happen. Forget about blame or complaining, focus on responsibility and solutions, and learning from events, and suddenly you gain back a lot more control over your life.

4 - Release yourself from the burden of helping people that don’t want to be helped

Where you are looking to go is a better future, a brighter future that requires sacrifice and commitment, and that’s partly what makes it so worthwhile. But there might be people that you know, that you may still hold near your heart, who aren’t willing to go for more, to strive for better, and no matter how much you try, they don’t accept your help. It’s time to let those people go, to bid them the best, to wish them well and look fondly on all the memories you made together, but if they aren’t willing to evolve, to grow, they will only be an anchor holding you back from who you could be.
