The best way to level up in life
Leveling up as an individual is the best idea anyone has ever had when reflecting on living a good and meaningful life.
Except for breakfast for dinner, other than that, best idea.
Why? Because you have the chance to be something no one else can be. You. That also means you are solely responsible for the version of yourself you present to the world.
That’s a choice you have to make, do you accept yourself as who you are now being the same for the rest of your life? Or do you imagine a version of yourself that’s always looking for that edge, where the unknown meets the known, and where you have a chance to grow into something more?
Your primary function should be to be intentional and be the best at what you choose to do, you can’t be the best at everything, but you can be the best at anything.
It’s this idea from the book Blue Ocean Strategy where you want to form your category, your niche of one. It’s a double-edged approach, because on one hand, you’ll be more valuable if you show up as authentic, and on the other hand, you’ll lead a more joyful life because you realize that your journey is yours alone, and there is no need to compare yourself to others, only to who you were yesterday.
Here are 4 amazing ways you can level up today:
1 - Get some form of exercise
Moving the body is one of the best ways to level up today. It’s easier to act our way into a new form of thinking than it is to think our way into a new form of acting. The benefits of exercise are infinite, not only to the body but to the mind as well.
2 - Get one effective thing done
This is a matter of not how you do things (efficiency) but WHAT you are trying to do. Focus on high-leverage activities, things that will get you closer to where you want to be, and get one of those things done today. Do that for enough days and you’ll be a completely different person.
3 - Start asking yourself the right question
Why am I here? A very generic and abstract question that almost all of us at some point have asked ourselves. What if the question was, with my experience, my values, and my skillset, where could I provide the most value and get meaning from it? Now that is a question, that if you can find the answer, has a tangible outcome, and will organize your mind to start thinking more effectively and level you up into a better version.
4 - Accept your past, surrender the future, embrace the present
We can’t change the past, we don’t control the future, but this moment, this moment that you have taken to read this newsletter, this is within your control, in fact, it’s the only thing within your control. We do not control outcomes or what happens to us, while we may influence them, the power is in the present, and our response to things. Learn to control your present moment and your response, and it’s a whole different ball game.
