Fortune Favors The Bold

I spent lots of time yesterday recording content, thinking about how to really connect with you, my ideal avatar, and it got me thinking about an interesting lesson.

Fortune Favors The Bold

Sure it’s a cool line, and great to say, but I started thinking about the lesson behind it, what it means to apply it. Because here I am, working on content that is meant to inspire and transform, but is it bold?

Does it defy what everyone else is telling you, not because it’s trying to stand out, but because it’s so authentic that no one else would do it?

You win long term by being who you are, and by being obsessed with improvement, but the bar is so low, that you stand out by just being you, because almost everyone else is afraid to be them.

My ideal avatar was me 2 years ago, on the journey of personal development, seeking to transform this into a way of life, not just something I did. A philosophy of life that was embodied, not just studied.

So that brings me to the four actionable pillars of today’s newsletter

1. Outlast > Outwork

Work hard, sure, we all need to work hard for the things we want. But I’d rather you work moderately hard for 10 years than very hard for 10 days. That’s where sustainability comes in, that’s where we focus on building systems that allow us to be real players in the game of life, thinking in decades not days.

2. Have A Life Philosophy

Overtime, we build our own life philosophies based on experiences, beliefs, and relationships, but having a larger school of thought to help base your life philosophy is incredibly important, as these schools of thought address many of the ways in which to live your life.

Here are the most commonly viewed philosophies, I absolutely love the Stoic philosophy, and it works wonders for me. Regardless of your choice, all these philosophies provide great insight into the world and how people think.

  • Nihilism

  • Existentialism

  • Stoicism

  • Platonism

  • Epicureanism

  • Taoism

  • Utilitarianism

3. Commit To Daily Bold Actions

Be a disruptor every day of your life by committing to the bold, taking risks by innovating and looking at ways you can change the world. This is the moment where you think big, and see what really matters.

4. Kill Complacency To Allow Space For Boldness

Lastly, if you are comfortable, if you don’t have a reason to change, you don’t have a reason to be bold.

Get comfortable with the notion of being uncomfortable, and seek out adversity and challenges to build yourself into the bold kind that changes history.
