4 ways to master inner peace without breaking a sweat
Peace.
We all desired an element of calmness in our lives, of stability and order. We can have peace of mind, time peace, location peace, and financial peace, but what does it look like to have inner peace?
To put it plainly, inner peace is being okay with who you are inside. It’s an affirmation to yourself that acknowledges that you are a good person, with a good heart, trying to do what’s right.
It’s also that you are comfortable with being alone and being able to sit in silence with only your thoughts as your company.
Why is this important? Well, we know that culture is always shifting, and the noise of the world has only grown more and more over the years, and sometimes that can create a situation where we conform.
But then the next question is how do we master inner peace, and is it as difficult as it may seem? The answer is, it depends. Things in life just are, and we choose to make things easier or harder depending on what we do, and the frame with which we view things.
But here are 4 ways to easily master inner peace
1. Acknowledging your shortcomings
We are human beings, and we have so many flaws. So what? It’s a beautiful thing about being human, that we can improve, that we can change. What fun would life be if everything was perfect, and nothing changed? Our favorite heroes, our favorite stories, there isn’t a perfect main character, why? Because the development of that character, and the journey is what excites us, and makes us want to learn more. So start by admitting your flaws.
2. Practice the art of meditation
Meditating is one of my favorite ways to practice inner peace because the stillness you get is so freeing. Find a style that works for you, I enjoy visualization meditation, and just sitting there for 5, to 10 minutes and being still with yourself, this is one of the best ways to master inner peace.
3. Let go of what was
Imagine each life like a tree. Trees grow every year, and grow branches, that in the heat, spring leaves and fruits, and in the winter, the branches grow brittle and nothing grows. Well much like these trees, we all go through different seasons of life, and it’s hard to grow leaves and fruit on branches that are dead, yet we keep them attached. The process of letting branches go frees you from what was and allows you to grow something new.
4. Spend time walking in nature
Spending time in nature is a very grounding experience and allows you to remember that no matter how good or bad a moment is, it will pass. All things end in time, and life will go on as it always has. There is a poetic beauty in that, and enjoying life as it is, and not as we want it to be, is a constant reminder to stop worrying about things that we can’t control, and to live in the moment as if it were our last.
